My name is Zack MacKeller. My dad and I are both Air Force veterans and I fell in love with Idaho after being stationed at Mountain Home AFB in 2015. I served five years with the US Air Force, and my father served for twenty-five years so home has never been where I was born, or where my mailing address is; but rather, home is where I’ve found community and belonging. My hobbies include ultramarathon trail running, camping, and science fiction. I moved to Boise in 2017 and was studying at Boise State University while still serving part-time with the Air National Guard when I first began to consider the priesthood. Something began stirring in my heart, leading me to follow Jesus like the sons of Zebedee on the shore of Galilee.

The more I follow Jesus, the more I fall in love with the God of Love and come to realize he’s been leading me to be another St. John the Beloved, laying my head on his Sacred Heart. At first this journey seemed crazy, but the Lord opens all doors to the path he desires us to walk on to encounter Him. I am also co-sponsored by the Archdiocese of the Military to become an Air Force military chaplain. Three years after ordination, I’ll go on active duty for a few years until our bishop calls me back. I’m currently in my fourth year of formation at Saint Paul Seminary’s Pre-Theology II program in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
