The Reality
We Know How Stretched You Are
We know how easy it is for the great privilege of calling forth men to the priesthood to slide to the background when the demands of parish life are so pressing.
With this reality in mind, the Vocations Office has developed a strategy that will accommodate your availability and level of interest in being involved. There are a few ways to plug in, but first, four key programs to know about:

I
Templar Altar Servers
A Catholic brotherhood for high schoolers — a "varsity team" for your parish's altar servers. Open to practicing Catholic young men, whether or not they are open to the priesthood. This is a national program with a chapter already operating in Caldwell and several more in development. The ideal is a Templar Chapter in every single parish throughout the diocese. The Templars can become the primary feeder system into the Sons of St. Joseph for years to come.

Sons of St. Joseph
A brotherhood for men and young men who are open to the priesthood. Two cohorts: Younger Brothers (13-18) and Older Brothers (19+). Applications are being accepted now and it officially begins May 1st, Feast of St. Joseph the Worker. Based out of Our Lady of the Valley in Caldwell, with options for everyone around the diocese to plug in.

Ambassadors
Men and women helping to market and recruit for the Templars and Sons of St. Joseph, primarily by setting up and updating displays in parishes, schools, and homes and ensuring that relevant announcements and stories are communicated to everyone throughout the diocese.

St. Timothy Fellowship
A priest support group led by FOCUS missionaries. Fr. Cintra and Fr. Lustig are currently testing it.

Five Levels of Involvement
Choose the level that fits your availability. Every level builds on the one before it. With these terms in mind, here are 5 different levels of engagement, ranked from “least involved” to “most involved”:
Ambassador + Awareness
Recruit a parishioner to be your parish's Ambassador. The Vocations Office will train and equip them. Simply tell them to go to idahovocations.com/ambassador to sign up.
Regularly (once a month) mention the Templars and/or the Sons of St. Joseph in your Sunday homilies, passively and actively helping to generate interest.
Choose a Track
Includes everything in Level 1, plus:
Track 2A: Templars
Run a Templars chapter in your parish. They meet once a month (suggestion: 4th Thursday). Recruit a Head Confrere to spearhead it and the Vocations Office will train and equip him. You serve as Chaplain (the Templars will provide a Chaplain handbook). Tell him to visit templarsorder.org/signup.
Track 2B: Sons of St. Joseph
Establish a Sons of St. Joseph chapter in your parish, either via Zoom or locally. They meet three times a month (suggestion: 1st, 2nd, 3rd Thursdays). You'll need an Avunculus ("uncle" to the Sons) to organize and lead the guys. Sign up at https://idahovocations.com/joseph/.
Both Tracks — Full Commitment
Levels 1 + 2A + 2B combined
Run both a Templars chapter and a Sons of St. Joseph chapter in your parish (Zoom or local). This requires the most commitment (4 nights a month), but it would also be by far the most fruitful.
Given the monumental shortage of priests in our diocese, it would behoove all of us to gradually move towards this goal. It would also help everyone develop the mentality that "Thursday nights is priesthood night."

Join the FOCUS St. Timothy Fellowship for priest support and fraternity.
Launch a parallel track for women: the Handmaids of the Eucharist (parallel to the Templars) and the Daughters of Our Lady (parallel to the Sons of St. Joseph).
