My name is Ronald Onyekwelu. I was born in Ukpo, Nigeria and lived in Abagana in Njikoka, LGA, with my parents and siblings. I was first attracted to the priesthood by the influence of some religious sisters during my primary school studies, and through priests while serving as an altar server. I have spent most of my life in the seminary and began minor seminary studies in 2008 at the very tender age of 12. I attended St. Dominic Savio Seminary, Akpu and St. John Bosco Seminary, Isuaniocha for my minor seminary studies (high school studies) and graduated in 2014 after six years of formation. I then had a one-year pastoral assignment as a minor seminarian in St. John Bosco Seminary as a prefect teacher during the 2014-2015 academic year.

In 2015, I went to Holy Family Spiritual Year Seminary, Okpuno, Akwa for my spiritual year formation program which is just like the propaedeutic year and finished the program in 2016. From 2016 to 2021, I had my philosophical studies in Pope John Paul II Major Seminary, Okpuno, Awka an affiliate institute of Nmandi Azikiwe, University, Akwa and Urbania University Rome where I obtained my B.A. and B.Phil, respectively. During the 2020-2021 formation year I worked in Holy Family Spiritual Year Seminary before traveling to Boise, Idaho in June 2022. While in Idaho, I completed my pastoral year assignment in St. Nicholas parish, Rupert (2022-2023) before traveling to St. Rita’s parish, Kellogg for my summer assignment. Currently, I am in St. Paul Seminary for my Propaedeutic Year formation program.
